Dr Alasdair Watson is a Cardiothoracic and Heart Transplant Surgeon located the St Vincent’s Private and Public Hospital in Sydney. He has a special interest in aortic valve surgery such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation, as well as, transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

Alasdair completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Newcastle, followed by his residency at the St Vincent’s Hospital. During his time at St Vincent’s, Dr Watson completed laboratory studies in the preservation of donor hearts for transplantation with the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and was awarded a PhD from the University of New South Wales for this research.

Dr Watson completed cardiothoracic surgery training at the Westmead Children’s Hospital, The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Princess Alexandria Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital. Following this, Alasdair completed further specialty training in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), laser lead extraction and transplantation at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.
