Professor Sanjay Patel is an Interventional Cardiologist in Sydney Australia. He is currently the Director of Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and a Staff Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

He has a special interest in complex coronary interventions, structural heart interventions including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), aortic and mitral valvuloplasty, PFO/ASD closures, renal artery denervation for resistant hypertension.

Prof Patel completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney, graduating with First Class Honours. He completed his advanced cardiology training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, followed by doctoral studies in 2009 which were supported by a postgraduate research scholarship with the NHF. During this time, he also completed postdoctoral studies at the Stanford University and interventional cardiology training at the Standard University Medical Centre, supported by an NHMRC CJ Martin Overseas Fellowship Grant.

Prof Patel also holds a Coronary Disease Group Leader position at the Heart Research Institute (HRI) and is a Clinical Professor at the Sydney Medical School. He has extensively contributed to research in cardiovascular disease and published over 100 papers.
