Biography

Mr. Krishna Bhagwat is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon located in Melbourne with expertise in general cardiac surgery, total arterial revascularization, minimally-invasive valve repair and replacement surgery. His areas of passion and specialty include minimally invasive thoracic and cardiac surgery, including thoracic oncology via uniportal approach. Krishna is devoted to providing personalised care for all of his patients in order to achieve comfort and early recovery.

Mr Bhagwat currently consults in both public and private practice in Melbourne at the St Vincent’s Private and Public Hospital, Northern Hospital, John Fawkner Private Hospital, Warringal Private Hospital, Knox Private Hospital, Melbourne Private Hospital, Mulgrave Private Hospital and Cabrini Malvern. He also consults with independent groups, The Cardiologists in Epping along with East Melbourne Heart and Lung in Fitzroy.

Additionally, Mr Bhagwat has consulted as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Royal Hobart Hospital in Tasmania, Barwon Health, University Hospital and St John of God Hospital in Geelong, and overseas at the Southern District Health Board in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Krishna completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Master of Surgery in General Surgery at the University of Mumbai, followed by a Master of Chirurgy in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pune. He has completed Fellowships across various centres in Victoria focused on Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery, Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Heart & Lung Transplant Surgery.

Mr Bhagwat has demonstrated dedication to education, research and professional development. He is an active member of the Academy of Surgical Educators with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons with an interest in surgical training and holds a college-appointed role as the Supervisor of Surgical Education and Training (SET) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

He has completed an extensive number of certificates, courses, research publications, presentations both nationally and internationally, as well as, teaching medical students and other supervisory roles, and holds multiple clinical governance and committee roles.
