Dr Sanjay Sharma is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon located in Perth, consulting at the Mount Hospital, St John of God Murdoch Hospital, and Joondalup Health Campus.

Sanjay completed his Medical Degree at the University of Western Australia before undergoing a surgical training program in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Royal Perth Hospital, eastern parts of Australia and New Zealand. Following this, Sanjay completed post-fellowship training focusing on advanced techniques of minimally invasive valve surgery, transplantation and blood conservation principles, lung cancer surgery and chest wall reconstruction, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston Massachusetts.

Dr Sharma began consulting at the Mount Hospital and Fremantle Hospital in 2004, where he would also later become the Head of Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery for 4 years. Sanjay was an integral part of the establishment of a Thoracic Surgical program at St John of God Murdoch in 2012 and at Joondalup Health Campus in 2015.

Dr Sharma also has a keen interest in minimally invasive management of Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating from the armpits and hands).  He regularly treats patients with this condition at the Perth Sweat Clinic.

Sanjay has contributed to research publications and presented extensively in peer-reviewed journals. He also serves on the Medical Advisory Committee and Clinical Review Committee for the Mount Hospital and is also a Senior Instructor with the Royal College of Surgeons.
