Dr James Shaw is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Director of Education and Training, and Visiting Cardiologist. He currently consults at The Alfred, Cabrini Melbourne, Sandringham Hospital, Melbourne Heart Group, and Bairnsdale Regional Health.

He has clinical interests in the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis for both coronary and non-coronary vascular instances, as well as, echocardiography including transthoracic and transesophageal echos.

James completed PhD studies focusing on the ‘Mechanisms of Plaque Stability in Coronary Artery Disease’ through the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Following this, he trained in Boston at the Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals for 2.5 years.

Dr Shaw has held a number of education and research roles, including students and registrar projects. He has also been a Principal Investigator in a number of clinical trials and has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications.
