Dr Emily Kirkpatrick is an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with the Skin Cancer College Australasia. This means she has successfully completed a high level of training with the College and has proven skills in the diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer. Dr Emily is also a fellow of the RACGP General Practice specialty training program, which she completed while managing the busy demands of her young children. She has worked at various health care centres across South Australia and New South Wales. Currently she works concurrently as a Medical Educator at GPEx (SA), as well as a lecturer at the University of Adelaide in the Discipline of General Practice.

Skin cancer medicine is her passion. She has completed a MMed (Skin Cancer) at the University of Queensland. In addition, she has also obtained a Cert in Skin Cancer Medicine from UQ and Cert in Skin Cancer Surgery from Bond University.

Dr Emily has also obtained a FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive & Sexual Health and is proud to contribute to the comprehensive women’s health services at Adelaide City General Practice.  She is knowledgeable on sexual health and contraceptive issues. In addition, she is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society.

Prior to working in general practice, Dr Emily completed a Master of Public Health and plans to continue working in academia, currently pursuing a PhD. She can be heard through social media, podcasts and on the radio discussing topical issues in general practice, such as the future of GP, mental health issues and antimicrobial resistance. She is the vice-chair on the RACGP SA&NT Council, is an RACGP OSCE examiner and sits on the RACGP SA&NT Education and Training Committee.  She is also the current Aus/NZ Chair of The Rajakumar Movement, WONCA Young Doctors. ​ Dr Emily provides advisory services and consultation advice on both medical education and the future of general practice, sitting on numerous committees.
