Dr Ata Doost is an Interventional and Structural Cardiologist working across NSW and the ACT. He currently consults at Macquarie Heart Group, Cardiac Care Sydney, and Canberra Cardiac Care.

Dr Doost has a special interest in intracoronary imaging and physiology (IVUS, OCT, FFR) and coronary calcium modification techniques such as rotational atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy. He also treats patients with heart valve disease, such as aortic and mitral valve disease, with novel percutaneous therapies, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and mitral valve repair.

Along with his experience in treating coronary and valvular conditions, Dr Doost is also skilled in treating hypertension, heart failure, angina, heart rhythm disorders and high blood pressure.

Dr Doost completed his undergraduate medical training in Tehran, Iran and later pursued general medical training at the Canberra Hospital and advanced his cardiology training at The Canberra, Royal Perth, and Fiona Stanley Hospitals. He received extensive training in interventional cardiology at Fiona Stanley Hospital in 2020 and 2021. Additionally, he completed an Interventional and Structural Fellowship at King’s College Hospital, UK, starting in September 2021.

His research interests encompass multi-modality cardiac imaging, coronary calcification, intracoronary imaging, coronary calcium modification techniques, and the application of coronary physiology in interventions.

He has investigated the benefits of radial artery intervention and earned a Master of Philosophy from the Australian National University Medical School for his research on micro-CT scans in small animal models. Dr Doost also holds a position at Macquarie University as a Clinical Senior Lecturer.
