Dr McLellan has special expertise in arrhythmia management, complex ablation procedures including for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, cardiac pacing for biventricular devices and defibrillator implantation.
Alex graduated from the University of Sydney and his advanced cardiology training at the Alfred Hospital. Following this, he completed a Fellowship in Cardiac Imaging at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne. Alex completed a PhD focusing on strategies to improve atrial fibrillation ablation outcomes under the supervision of Associate Professor Peter Kistler and Professor Jonathan Kalman at the Alfred and Royal Melbourne Hospitals, where he also completed further clinical training in cardiac electrophysiology and device implantation.
Dr McLellan has been widely published in numerous research publications and presented at international and national conferences. He was awarded the Young Investigator Award at the Asia-Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Conference, Postgraduate Scholarship from the National Health and Medical Research Council and National Heart Foundation, and a Bright Sparks Scholarship from the Baker IDI Heart & Diabetes Institute.
