Associate Professor Michael Wong is a Consultant Cardiac Electrophysiologist located in Melbourne, Victoria. He is currently the Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology & Devices at Western Health in Melbourne. He has a special interest in cardiac device implantation such as pacemakers and defibrillators, as well as, the treatment of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias through cardiac catheter ablation procedures.

A/Prof Wong has admitting rights at a number of hospitals in Victoria including Western Health, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Knox Private Hospital, and Epworth Health (Richmond and Eastern Hospitals). He is also in private practice at Eastern Heart Victoria and Melbourne Heart Rhythm.

Michael completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Melbourne and further specialty training at Austin Health, The Alfred Hospital and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Following his training, Michael went on to complete PhD research that explored “Mechanisms, Predictors and Treatment of Lethal Cardiac Arrhythmias and Sudden Cardiac Death.” This research was widely awarded and Michael was the recipient of a number of awards such as the Ralph Reader Prize, National Heart Foundation Paul Korner Innovation Award and Young Investigator Award from the Heart Rhythm Society.

A/Prof Wong has continued to contribute to research regularly involved in peer-reviewed publications and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne.
