Associate Professor James Wong is an Echocardiologist and Director of the Echocardiology Laboratory at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, and a Consultant Cardiologist at the John Fawkner Hospital and Melbourne Private Hospital. He regularly performs cardiac ultrasounds, stress echocardiography and treats patients with heart failure and valvular heart failure.
After graduating from the University of Melbourne with Honours, James completed further cardiology training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He was awarded a scholarship from the National Heart Foundation and completed a PhD in vascular biology with the Baker Medical Institute. Following this, he completed an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratory in Ohio, USA.
His dedication and research have seen him awarded for his work receiving first place in the Advanced Fellow’s Research Award for two years at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, first place at the Ohio Chapter of the ACC Young Investigators Award and first place in the Young Investigators Award of the American Society of Echocardiography.
