Associate Professor David Prior is a Clinical Cardiologist with a special interest in non-invasive cardiology, echocardiology, and sports cardiology. He is the Director of Non-invasive Cardiac Imaging and Head of the Cardiology & Heart Failure Outpatient Clinics at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.

David completed a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the Monash University. He completed his advanced cardiology training including heart failure and transplantation at the Alfred Hospital.

David continued to further his experience in diagnostic cardiology and heart failure, completing a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound from the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine. Following this, he was awarded a Baker Heart Research Institute scholarship and completed a PhD focusing on abnormal vascular function in heart failure at the Monash University and Alfred Hospital.

A/Prof Prior established Melbourne Sports Cardiology, Australia’s first specific Sports and Exercise Cardiology Clinic at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre. As a Cardiologist for many years, and active individual, he formed an interest in exploring the assessment of heart function using ultrasound to potentially identify heart issues in athletes prior to exercising.
